Turn It Around

 If you feel down in the dumps or depressed, the single best way to get out of yourself is to help someone else.  Haven’t you noticed that when you help others you feel great?  Call a friend who has been struggling, donate time at your local pet shelter, or be a reading buddy at your local elementary school.  Doing something for someone else especially when your feeling down is a great contributor to positive self-worth and can lift you right out of a funk!  Give what you can, when you can, the best you can, in whatever way you can (your listening ear, your time, some money, whatever you are able to give) and you will find that it comes back to you tenfold.  There are untold benefits from being of service to others;

  • Feeling that you have a purpose and meaning in your life
  • Stronger connections in your relationships and in your community
  • Makes you feel grateful for you what you have
  • It’s great role modeling for others

Instead of wasting time feeling down next time you are struggling with negative thinking and feelings, get busy and help someone else!  You’ll be glad you did and remember………Optimists Rock!
