Don’t forget to Smell the Roses

June 1, 2014

Do you ever get “caught up” in the hustle and bustle of life and forget to slow down long enough to really be grateful for everything you have TODAY? On the path to creating your amazing life, don’t forget to take time to stay connected to what is important to you in your heart and soul.  Last week I had just returned home from a trip to California and ten hours later left for another trip, a weekend retreat in the mountains with some like-minded power people.  I had angst about going on this trip because I  missed my family and had just gotten home before taking off again.

While I meditate every day, the topic and practice of meditation was the weekend theme at the retreat and it stressed the importance of getting quiet inside to really listen to your heart and soul (and God if you are so inclined).   Sometimes we just need to slow down and stop the world.  When we are willing to give ourselves this valuable respite, a break from the world, our awareness changes and we become more grateful, more compassionate, and more focused on how we can be of best benefit to others and the world.  I returned home refreshed, revitalized and ready to take on the many challenges that were waiting for me upon my return.

Give yourself the time you need to stay centered and don’t forget to smell the roses, to be grateful for all that you have; your health, your family, the love in your life, your job, whatever it is that you have been blessed with and as you express your gratitude, you will experience a peace that is only found when you are connected to yourself and the divine.

I have had a tough time talking to God because of some things that have happened in the last few years. A friend and I started going on walks together taking breaks noticing beautiful gardens and picking some amazing flowers when aplicable or not rude.

Walking and spending time in nature has always made me feel plugged in, and closer to my creator. We all have a past Charis, the trick is to not let it dictate our present or future. We change what we can today and do our best to let the rest go….best to you on your journey!
